Transforming the university campus into a PLUS experience.

Villanueva University, officially recognized as a private institution in 2020, is located in Madrid, Spain, and has its origins as an educational center dating back to 1977. It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs through its three colleges: the College of Social and Legal Sciences and the College of Health Sciences. The university emphasizes academic excellence and the development of values such as freedom and responsibility, aiming to prepare students to positively impact society. Its main campus is located on Costa Brava Street in the Mirasierra neighborhood of Madrid, and it has recently expanded with a new health-focused campus in Pozuelo de Alarcón.

At Minds Studio, we collaborate closely with the University’s leadership team on a diverse array of strategic initiatives aimed at transforming its academic and co-curricular experiences into a more engaging learning experience, which will be unveiled during 2025.

Why we worked with Villanueva

According to Higher Education published research studies (Calderon, 2018), The growing demand of Higher Education is going to continue exponentially over the next 20 years, particularly in developing markets. Latin America and Africa will become some of the leading sources of growth in the next decade.

At Minds Studio, we enjoy exploring global trends, innovative learning methodologies, and cutting-edge products. Our goal is to equip Villanueva with the insights, expertise and tech tools necessary to effectively meet the expanding needs of Higher Education students in Spain and Latin America.

What we worked on with Villanueva

Our collaboration with Villanueva’s leadership team began in 2024 and it’s comprised 3 stages.

Stage 1: Researching higher education global trends and recommendations

In this internal leadership team report, we’ve looked into the evolving global trends that are reshaping the higher education ecosystem. We identified the key variables driving rapid changes among the diverse stakeholders involved, including how contemporary political, economic, social, and technological shifts are bolstering specific higher education initiatives. Finally, we’ve developed actionable recommendations stemming from our analysis, tailored to the Villanueva’s positioning and potential.

Stage 2: Designing a new premium offering through Villanueva Plus

Building on the initial research, the Minds Studio team collaborated closely with Villanueva’s leadership and operational teams to develop a new premium offering for students. The goal was to enhance engagement and drive the adoption of active learning methodologies, creating a delightful hybrid learning experience.

Stage 3: Supporting the implementation of Villanueva Plus

The magic comes out of the details, and at Minds Studio we aim to provide end-to-end support in the implementation of new learning communities. At Villanueva, we have integrated with the operational and academic team in order to develop the systems and processes that will allow change to flourish at scale.

The proposal of the Active Learning model and cross-disciplinary collaboration across all degree programs at the University are all aimed at engaging every student in activities that strengthen our university community.
